OUR STORY

Proudly serving the residential and business communities of Montgomery County, Far East Restaurant offers cuisine from a variety of Chinese regions. The family owned and operated restaurant was founded in 1974 by Shing Wai Wong and continuously managed by the Wong family. In 1985, Far East Restaurant moved to its current location, expanding from 1,500 square feet to over 11,000 square feet. Today, David Wong is proud to continue Far East Restaurant’s tradition of Chinese culinary excellence. Offering a dining area steeped in original Chinese cultural artistry, Far East accommodates every guest including special bookings for large parties (20–225 guests) for family events and business conferences or retirement celebrations. 

OUR SPECIALTIES

Far East Restaurant specialties include Long Island Peking Duck, hand carved and wrapped in Chinese pancakes—a family favorite! Hunan and Szechuan dishes were added in the 1980s, featuring bold flavors created with garlic and a variety of regional Chinese peppers. In 2013, Far East Restaurant began offering a Cantonese Dim Sum menu. Since then, customers in the DMV have enjoyed Far East Dim Sum not just on the weekends but also daily until 3pm. We invite you to visit and try some of our crowd favorites including “Don Tot” (egg custard tarts) and “Har Gow” (shrimp balls).

We employ over 10 culinary professionals in our 3,000+ square foot kitchen.  This allows us to constantly prepare many unique dishes as well as deserts. It also means that we can prepare frequently prepare fresh servings of our menu items   This is a unique resource for Far East and we use it everyday to serve you the finest Chinese food in the DMV.
